NBA 2012-13 Season Predictions

Here are my predictions for the Eastern and Western Conferences for the 2012-13 season.  I’ve also put the wins and losses I expect them to end the regular season with.  Accounting for injuries that have already occurred (i.e. Derrick Rose, Ricky Rubio, etc.) but not allowing for injuries that may occur throughout the season.  Have a look at let us know what you think!

Today in NBA History – Aug 24

1965 – Reggie Miller is born in California.  Reggie Miller was the long time leader for the most three pointers made in NBA history with 2,560 makes until Ray Allen passed him recently.  Miller is known for his amazing offensive skill sets and his rivalry with Spike Lee, a New York Knicks super fan.  Miller was a 5x NBA All-Star and played 18 seasons in the NBA – all with the Indiana Pacers – and retired averaging 18.2 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists per game.

1979 – Michael Redd is born in Ohio.  Redd was a member of the 2008 United States Men’s basketball team that won a Gold Medal in Beijing.  Redd played his first 11 seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks and played last season with the Phoenix Suns.  Currently he is an unrestricted free agent and has a career average of 19 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

2008 – The USA Men’s basketball team, A.K.A. The Redeem Team, beat Spain 118-107 in the Gold Medal Game at the Beijing Olympics.

Today in NBA History – Aug 19

1996 – The Phoenix Suns trade Charles Barkley and a 1999 second round draft pick to the Houston Rockets for Robert Horry, Sam Cassell, Chucky Brown and Mark Bryant.  This trade teamed up three 50 Greatest Players in Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler.  The Rockets, led by these three players, finished the 1997 season with a 57-25 record, falling in the Conference Finals to the Utah Jazz.

    • The Hornets receive C Robin Lopez (from Phoenix), F Hakim Warrick (from Phoenix) and cash considerations (from Minnesota)
    • The Timberwolves receive G Jermoe Dyson (from New Orleans), C Brad Miller (from New Orleans) and 3 second-round draft picks (from New Orleans)
    • The Suns receive F Wesley Johnson (from Minnesota) and a first-round draft pick (from Minnesota)

July 25th Updates

DEALS:

  • The Cleveland Cavaliers trade G D.J. Kennedy to the Memphis Grizzlies for G Jeremy Pargo, cash considerations and a 2014 second-round draft pick
  • The Phoenix Suns re-sign G Shannon Brown to a 2 year deal

 

RUMOURS:

  • Andrei Kirilenko will not sign with the Brooklyn Nets as they can only offer the veterans minimum.
  • Andrei Kirilenko is being looked at by the Minnesota Timberwolves after they failed to sign F Nicolas Batum

 

THREE TEAM TRADE – RUMOUR (SHOULD BE FINALISED SOON):

Three team trade involving the New Orleans Hornets, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Phoenix Suns:

  • The Hornets receive C Robin Lopez (from Phoenix), F Hakim Warrick (from Phoenix) and cash considerations
  • The Timberwolves receive G Jermoe Dyson (from New Orleans), C Brad Miller* (from New Orleans) and 2 second-round draft picks (from New Orleans)
  • The Suns receive F Wesley Johnson (from Minnesota) and a first-round draft pick (from Minnesota)

*Brad Miller is owed $5.1 million dollars this season, though he has announced retirement, he is still entitled to this salary.

  • The Phoenix Suns will re-sign G Shannon Brown for $7 million over 2 years – averaged 11 points, 1.2 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game this season (all above career averages)
  • The Los Angeles Lakers will re-sign F/C Jordan Hill – averaged 4.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in 18 minutes a game over 12 games in the Lakers’ playoffs run
  • The Denver Nuggets signed free agent F Anthony Randolph – career averages of 8.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game over 4 seasons

 

DWIGHT HOWARD NEWS:

Dwight Howard’s agent – Dan Fegan – has made it clear that, after next season, Dwight will test free agency no matter which team he plays for this season.
